WOYWW #429

Hello Wednesday and happy WOYWW! Today is the day we get to take a peek into other crafters' rooms and work areas. All courtesy of Julia at Stamping Ground. Click on over to see the linkage and add your own link too.

Here's my desk:
So messy! I just finished working on a mini-album for my daughter-in-law's bridal shower in June. I started the album during the crop I went to a few weeks ago, but finally finished last night. It's pretty simple, but loaded with fun photos! Here are some pages from the album:

The papers and stickers are from Close To My Heart (CTMH). A set I've had for a few years. I am excited to say, I used all the stickers and patterned papers from this kit! I added some page flips so she can add more photos and left the journaling for her.

Now head on over to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to see more desks! Have a great week!

ICADs 2017; Week Six

Prompts for this week are:
And the cards:

My favorite this week is card #6.  I love the way the butterfly turned out.  I really did not follow the prompts this week, but that's ok!  I also did a lot more doodling this week.  FUN!

Stick It Down August Challenge

I love these photos of my Gracie girl eating that homegrown carrot! She has this hilarious side chew that we love and she got down with this treat! This layout was one that I completed while attending an all day crop. I used what I had and made a cute one!  Click on over to Stick It Down for some great sketch challenges. I love that they have a single page, two page and card sketch each month.

Join the fun challenge and enter a layout or two!

Caps On; MLB Opening Day

More layouts and more sketches! I love this sketch on Stuck?! challenge site. They have multiple sketches per month and this one is a great one. I don't usually do one photo layouts but I only had one group photo for this occasion. My coworkers and I wore baseball caps on the Caps On MLB challenge so we took a group photo.

I am so happy to report that the Giants beat the Dodgers in this competition. LOL

TGIF; Thankful Friday #5

This week was filled with two back to back birthdays so this week, I'm thankful for birthday celebrations and family time! I love that birthdays don't have to be huge and elaborate, but a day for celebration and love. We had cake two days in a row this week and that's another thing to be thankful for!  LOL

So, what are you thankful for this week?  Let me know in the comments what you are thankful for this week and join me in this new weekly series that I started. Every Friday is TGIF; Thankful Friday because there's always something to be thankful for!

Crop Til You Drop

So, so excited that we were able to attend the one day 10:00 - 10:00 crop on Saturday. Carly and I have been wanting to close the door to the Command Center and just scrapbook but other noises in the house distract us! LOL So we went to the one day crop at Katie's World and got a lot done!
As usual, it was a full house with lots of friendly and busy croppers. Both Carly and I got a lot done. Check out my flip through:

Even though my stomach was not cooperating all day, I still managed to stay the entire time. AND probably because I wasn't feeling well, only managed to spend $9 combined!

Katie is a young business owner and makes super cute Disney two page layouts. Click here to get to her Etsy site..

Another thing to note: I was proud of myself because I really didn't pack a lot of supplies. Normally when I go to crops, I make page kits for my photos. I didn't have time to make them this time so I grabbed a few pieces of patterned paper without too much thought and put them in my bag. Now, my crop bag already has a good supply of cardstock and other papers from other projects from other crops so it's not like it was empty. I mean don't get me wrong, the thing probably weighed 30 lbs. or so. Anyways, I was really happy with the creative side of my layouts since I had to use what I had. I really tried not to purchase items from the store.

Some of the layouts are not completely finished since I needed to add some more embellishments or photos, but they are completed for the most part.  Enjoy!

CWS Mid Month Inspiration Challenge #17 Boys to Men

There's still time to join the Creative With Stamps August Boys to Men challenge. Click on over there for mid-month inspiration.

I'm on a roll with the masculine cards!  I guess they're not as hard as I thought they'd be. Like everything else, you just have to make time to do them. Here's another one:

The background is a gelli print. This print is so fun I didn't have to do anything else to it. I used my MISTI for the car since it needed to be really, really dark. I had to stamp the car three times to get the dark black like I wanted! The MISTI is great for this and I couldn't have done it any other way even with a clear stamp.

Don't forget there's still time to join the August challenge at CWS

Day #29 - #35 Week Five ICADs:
If you're interested in the ICAD phenomenon, click on over to https://daisyyellowart.com/icad-base/ to read all about it and see the prompts. Get started & have fun!!

These are cards from Week 1 - Week 4

This is a fun activity that I participated in last year and decided to do it again. Although it's meant to be for the 61 days of June & July, you can start anytime - which is what I did this year and last.

Week Five prompts in order: polka dots, gyroscope, faux wallpaper, desert or dessert, orange, 4th of July and favorite type of apple

The finished cards in order:
UIKEYINPUTDOWNARROW

See the previous weeks & last year cards by clicking on the ICAD label to the right.

My favorite card this week is ICAD #5; orange. I went a little overboard on the orange mediums, but I just love this sentiment and don't get to use it very often. LOL

TGIF; Thankful Friday #4

This week I'm especially thankful for long time friends. I went to dinner with a friend of mine and we had so much fun. I'm surprised they didn't kick us out of the place! We were laughing so hard. It was great to be updated on her family, talk about old times & new times, gossip, and just catch up.

I'd love to hear what you're thankful for this week. Let me know via the comments!

WOYWW #427 and Sewing School 2017 Projects

Happy WOYWW!  Click on over to Julia's blog at Stamping Ground to learn more about WOYWW & join the link!

Well, who knew I'd have so much fun with Sewing School?! If you follow my blog, you know that I started "Sewing School" for my granddaughter. It's been awhile since I really did some sewing, but she wanted to learn and what LeAnna wants, LeAnna gets.  LOL

We decided that she'd come over every Wednesday evening & make one project a week. The first lesson, we went over rules and showing her where the needle is, etc. She played around with scrap fabric and we ended up making a Barbie pillow.
Next lesson, I had her sew lines on a sheet of paper to practice sewing straight. She concentrated so hard and did a really good job. But she was getting bored and wanted to actually make something. She said this felt too much like regular school. So we took a trip to the fabric store and bought some fabric.

So far we've made a skirt and a pillow.  Tonight, we'll work on a pillowcase nightgown. It's been forever since I've made one of these and I found this on Pinterest to spark my memory.

Here are some photos of us knee deep in Sewing School and the final projects.
Pretty butterfly skirt

Ready to GO!

Hand sewing the pillow opening
She said she likes hand sewing the best. I love that smile on her face!
She wants to make a blanket for her cat and we'll probably do an apron after that. Since school starts next week, I'm not sure how long we'll keep this up, but right now we're having fun!

Any suggestions on easy sewing projects??

ICADs 2017 Week Four

This week I decided I was going to start each ICAD with the same gel print. So I went through my stash and grabbed one. Once I added the main element, I added more marks/paint/ink/etc. to make them unique.
Week Four prompts: Vanishing Point, Alice in Wonderland, Caravan/RV, Portrait, Green, Farm and Dashboard
Here are my cards in order:
Added washi tape, background stamping & black cross marks
Added washi tape and background stamping

Added washi, distress ink spray & acrylic paint
Watercolor background, pen marks & stamping
As you can tell from the prompts and the corresponding index cards, I don't always follow the prompts. The main idea is to create every day so instead of getting caught up or stressed about following the prompts, I just start creating and see where the cards lead me.

Stamps gifted from Rubber Paws: bird, Alice in Wonderland set, trailer, and all the sentiments used this week except the last one.

By far my favorite card this week is the portrait. LOL I did it by sketching my face with only one line (do not pick up the pen) nor did I look at the card. I kept looking at my photo and just drew. I got the idea/inspiration from a blog post on the Daisy Yellow Art blog. And that sentiment is perfect!
I also made this one of my hubby.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #3

Happy Thankful Friday! I hope you join me in commenting what you are thankful for this week. I love this idea since there are so many little things to be thankful for all the time. This weekly series reminds me to be thankful for big things but also the little things.

This week I'm thankful for AIR CONDITIONING.  LOL  We have had multiple days of triple digits this week and I am so thankful for our A/C unit!

A few years back, ours went out right in the middle of summer. We live in an area that gets HOT. It was horrible - we went two years without A/C since it was so expensive! We finally got it fixed and now realize how blessed we are to have it.
Now it's your turn...what are you thankful for this week? Share in the comment section.  I'd love to hear all about it!

Look & Be Amazed; Habakkuk 1:5

As I was working on my ICADs, I decided to work in my bible. I haven't done any bible art in a long time so I decided to bring my bible into the Command Center & work in it.

Here's the finished page and close ups:
I applied clear gesso to the top/edges before adding gelatos. The gelatos were applied and rubbed in with my fingers. I had already added art to the backside of this page so the strip of washi was already there. I went over the AMAZED stickers with a black marker since I wanted it to stand out more. I have so many alphabet stickers and I hope to use more of them in the future.

I stamped the banner & added random stickers. The piece of doily was sitting on the floor & I thought the color went with it so I glued it on. The tab & butterflies were punched out of the labels I made of my original art. Although the colors do not match exactly, I added the butterflies so it would tie in better. I also drew around the butterflies & added antennas to them. Remember that banner stamp was one that I almost tossed. It originally had a warped Happy Birthday in the middle but I ended up cutting it out & so glad I did. What a great stamp!

I love this verse! How inspiring! I added the tab because I can see myself returning to this verse often. I mentioned before that before I read or create in my bible, I always give a quick prayer and then randomly open a page. I believe that God speaks directly to me when I do this.
